David Coburn B.A., B.A(TH)., Grad. Dip. S. Theol. studied singing, choral conducting, composition and pipe organ at Trinity Grammar School, Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has studied piano and singing through the Autralian Music Examinations Board and the Trinity College of London
David studied Musicology and Organ Performance through the Australian Catholic University. He has additionally studied liturgical music and theology through the Sydney College of Divinity and the Australian Catholic University
David has directed and coached choirs in Australia and the United States of America. He has been Director of the Sydney Town Chorus (winning the Citibank McDonalds Performing Arts Challenge)and was the founding Musical Director of the Northern Beaches Harmony Chorus
He has performed and given recitals in many Sydney locations including the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Town Hall, St Andrew's Cathedral, St Mary's Cathedral, St Phillips York Street, Christ Church St Laurence. He has composed choral works for sacred and secular occasions
He has toured abroad in the United States of America, New Zealand and Mexico undertaking recitals, chorus coaching and masterclasses. He has been recorded on four CD's with another two in the near future
In 2000, David received a Citation from the former Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr Kofi Annan, King Taufa'ahau Tupo IV of Tonga, Mary McAleese - President of Ireland, and Her Majesty Queen Sylvia of Sweden for his involvement with the Across the Bridge of Hope project
He has been recognised with a Vocational Service Award for his service to community services by the Rotary Club of Australia. From 1996 - 2003 David was professionally engaged as the Arts and Events Coordinator of Sutherland Shire Council, where he developed an extensive program of community arts and cultural events. In 2003 he sucessfully coordinated the Parc Menai Celtic Festival in association with The Celtic Council of Australia. David coordinated a number of events including Opera on the Beach, Sutherland Shire Heritage Festival, Sutherland Brass and Concert Band Challenge, Sutherland and St George Youth Music Awards and Shakespeare in the Park
David was Director of Music at the Anglican Parish of St John the Evangelist Dee Why from 1991 - 2002. Under his direction, the St John's Choir recorded two CD's featuring the St John's Gregorian Schola and the Solemn Eucharist Choir. The Gregorian Schola was also recorded by top 10 pop artist, Paul Mac. In 2002 he was appointed Director of Music at the Anglican Parish of St Peter, Cremorne

David is a member of the Community Music Australia, Music Council of Australia, Royal School of Church Music, National Trust of Australia and the Royal Agricultural Society
He recently became a member of The Guild of Church Musicians, under the joint patronage of the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury and The Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, and is undertaking the Archbishops' Certificate in Church Music through the University of Newcastle Conservatorium of Music
